Colonial Concrete & Demolition Co. is a Chicago concrete and demolition contractor based in Avondale at 3227 N Western Ave. We pour driveways, patios, foundations, sidewalks and commercial flatwork, and we handle the demolition and concrete removal that comes before it.

Doing both is the point. Most concrete contractors sub out demolition and most demolition outfits do not pour. When those are two companies, the gap between them is where schedules slip and where damage gets argued about. When it is one crew, there is nobody to blame but us, and we would rather have it that way.

The work we get called to fix is almost always the same short list: a slab poured on disturbed clay with no compacted base, a patio pitched toward the house, control joints cut a day late, or a surface troweled while bleed water was still sitting on it. None of that is exotic. It is what happens when a crew is trying to finish three driveways in a week.

We do it in the order it has to be done. Excavate past the disturbed material, bring in graded stone, compact in lifts, form to the drainage slope, set reinforcement on chairs, pour air-entrained mix, wait for the bleed water, finish, and cut joints in the same-day window. It takes longer. It is the reason the slab is still flat in twenty years.

We work throughout Chicago, the North Shore, the near west suburbs and DuPage County. Estimates are free, we come out and look at the site, and we will tell you when a repair will do instead of a replacement.

What we do

• Concrete patios — Broom, exposed aggregate or stamped patios, pitched away from the house so water never sits against the foundation.
• Concrete foundations — Footings, walls and slabs for additions, garages and new builds, inspected and built to code.
• Sidewalks & walkways — City-spec public walks and private paths, with ADA-compliant slopes where they are required.
• Concrete repair — Mudjacking, section replacement and resurfacing when a full tear-out is not what the slab actually needs.
• Demolition services — Interior strip-outs, garage and structure tear-downs, concrete removal and full haul-away.
